In Spring 2024, Roastmaster Brian Franklin roasted a Colombian coffee that was fermented with bananas, and conducted a trial on voluntary subjects at The Rookery. The trial was focused on the health and happiness of human primates who consumed the banana coffee over the course of two weeks. Observations by Franklin and his staff confirmed that this coffee could be a candidate for the caffeination of chimpanzees.
After contacting the American Society for the Caffeination of Primates, Franklin has agreed to conduct a second trial on a smaller, more targeted group of humans. This trial will be self-funded and will begin as soon as enough participants are located and identified.
The Banana Coffee will be shipped to all participants in the study immediately after it is roasted. Recipients will be responsible for proper grinding and brewing of the coffee, taking special precautions to drink the coffee "black," without any additive milk, sugar, or flavoring compounds. Subjects should take detailed notes during and after consumption to note how the coffee tastes and how it makes them feel.
Each trial packet will include information about the coffee itself and brewing recommendations, as well as instructions on where to fill out a survey after consumption. The subject coffee will be packaged with commemorative artwork produced by nemesis, and plenty of fake news fabricated by the author.
Participation in the trial is completely voluntary and at your own risk. Please do not feed this coffee to other primates, as it has not yet been certified by ASCOP as proper caffeination for non-human primates.
